Pixum Photo Prints Review
Pixum is a relative newcomer to the UK photo printing market. However, this company is a market leader in Germany so they have a
huge amount of industry experience to draw upon as they attempt to carve themselves a slice of the lucrative UK market.
WHEN YOU FIRST LOG ON
We found it really easy to find our bearings when we first logged on to the Pixum site. The site has a clean and uncluttered feel,
and it was easy to navigate. The registration process was simple and quick, you only need to provide your name and e-mail address to
get on with the serious business of getting your pictures uploaded and printed!
UPLOADING YOUR PICTURES
Pixum allows you to choose from an HTML upload or a java-based uploader tool called Pixumup. If you have more than a few pictures to
upload, the HTML version will be a slow option as it is unable to cope with uploading large groups of pictures. The Java uploading
tool however, is excellent and allows you to quickly upload your pictures. We found the Pixumup tool very easy to use. There were
easy to understand instructions at every stage of the upload process. Pixumup also allows you to view your pictures in a slideshow,
and there is also a handy red eye removal function.
STORAGE CAPACITY & ONLINE ALBUMS
Pixum has a 1GB storage facility which is free. You can use this space to create an unlimited number of photo albums with captions
which can either be public or private. Private albums are accessible via e-mail invitiation to your desired viewers.
ORDERING PROCESS
Once the images were uploaded, it was quick and easy to order our prints from Pixum. Simply select the prints you wish to have
delivered, and add them to your shopping cart before going through the payment process. Final checkout was quick and easy, you
didn't have to jump through too many hoops to complete your order.
DELIVERY & PRINT QUALITY
You can check the status of your order with Pixum online so you know what stage your order is at. We got our order within a couple
of days, securely packaged and with excellent print quality.
Pixum have a great offer for new customers, your first 40 prints free and an unlimited number of prints for 1p (6 x 4 size only).
The only downside to our ordering experience was that we did not realise Pixums payment system originated in Germany. This meant we
were charged a £1.50 debit card fee on an order of just £2.00. Also, the site's translation from German to English means some rather
quirky language is in use in places, but overall we can forgive all that for an all round excellent photo print ordering experience!
OUR VERDICT
Give them a go, you won't regret it!
