MyPixMania (MyPix) Photo Prints Review

MyPixmania are an international outfit with online photo processing businesses in a number of countries. Its large size means that it offers some pretty reasonable prices on photo prints. MyPixmania have recently re-branded to MyPix. We're not quite sure why, in our opinion it only adds to the already rampant confusion caused by so many digital photo processors having confusingly similar names!

WHEN YOU FIRST LOG ON

Its extremely quick to get out through the registration process for Mypixmania (Mypix). The home page features a massive link you'd have to be blind as a bat to miss, and you only have to enter your name, e-mail address and DOB to get the picture printing ball rolling. It's not as glaringly intuitive as other photo printers what you have to do to begin your purchases on the Mypixmania (MyPix) site as it is on other sites. However, the link to "create album" is very prominent, we just found it a little harder to see amongst the other offer links on the post-registration page. A minor hurdle, but we did feel our ten seconds of confusion were worth a mention!

UPLOADING YOUR PICTURES

The upload facility on Mypixmania (MyPix) was java based, like many other online photo processors. This can be confusing if you don't have the java plugin installed on your machine, but the Mypixmania (Mypix) site makes the process of installing extremely easy for you. The upload interface itself was extremely easy to use, with a look and feel that echoes the familiar windows environment of your own PC. For those unable to use Java uploads there was an html browser-based alternative, however this did involve uploading each image individually, so not an option for those with a large number of images to get through.

STORAGE CAPACITY & ONLINE ALBUMS

MyPixmania (Mypix) offers free and unlimited storage and album creation with no obligation to make a purchase. All you have to do to take advantage of this service is register with the site, which as mentioned above takes approximately 30 seconds to complete. You can also share your photographs as you wish.

ORDER PROCESS

Once we had uploaded our chosen digital photos to our online album, it was relatively easy to pop them in our basket and crop them to make sure they would be presented as we wanted them to be.

DELIVERY & PRINT QUALITY

Our order was delivered within a couple of days of our placing it. The packaging was adequate, and the prints arrived on Fuji photographic paper and were pretty good in terms of clarity and colour. MyPixmania (Mypix) also included some really good special offer coupons with our photos, so we will definately be giving them another go to try out some of their photographic gift items for Christmas presents.

OUR VERDICT

We think MyPixmania (MyPix) represent great value for money, and are well worth a look. Perhaps some of the site functionality could be better, but we feel any issues with the photo printing process are minor in nature and don't take too much to overcome.
